WHICH CLOSET ROD IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

When purchasing your closet rod, you may have a couple of questions about which rod is the right fit for your application.

Whatever your choice, you can be sure that all of Hardware Decor’s closet rods are durable, built to last, and will support more weight than a traditional wooden rod. Because they all have a high performance level, you can choose your rod based on style and finish without worrying about performance.

The strength of the closet rod is determined by the material it's made from, the wall thickness, and the diameter of the tube.

When looking at a cross section of the tube, the diameter is the distance from one side to the other. The larger the diameter, the stronger the rod. The thicker the tube wall, the stronger the rod will be.

Strength:
HARDWARE DECOR offers closet rods constructed of three different materials: steel, stainless steel and aluminum.

Closet rods made from steel are chrome plated. In addition to being the strongest, they are also very resilient. Even after being overloaded they are likely to spring back to their original shape due to the resilient quality of steel.

Stainless Steel is the next strongest material. While performing similarly to regular steel, stainless steel has the added benefit of corrosion resistance. Stainless steel is an excellent option for humid or damp environments like laundry rooms and locker rooms.

Aluminum rods have a similar weight bearing capacity to steel, but being made of aluminum they are more rigid and less resilient than steel. Aluminum is the lightest of all three metals.

While it is a very strong material it is less likely to spring back to shape after it's been severely overloaded. A
luminum has the added benefit of coming in a variety of curable colored finishes due to it ability to be anodized.
